• Rights Advice Service

Our Rights Advice Service partners with local university law clinics and law firms to provide care-experienced individuals with expert guidance on their rights and entitlements. Through these partnerships, we help people navigate complex systems, offering support on a range of issues, from accessing benefits to understanding and asserting their rights within care settings.

  • Community

Avocados runs community groups, projects, and activities across Devon, creating spaces for connection and support. At our Exeter Hub, we host fortnightly themed drop-ins and monthly human rights drop-ins for care-experienced individuals. We also work with local authority participation teams and other local groups to offer trips and events—all designed and created by our community—to help people build friendships and explore new opportunities.

  • Grants/Equipment

In certain circumstances, Avocados is able to offer crisis grants to support individuals facing short-term challenges. These grants can help with immediate needs and, in some cases, include assistance with essential technical equipment, such as providing an educational laptop. However, all requests are subject to approval and depend on the availability of resources and our current capacity to provide support.

  • Training/Consultancy

Avocados offer a variety of training programs on a wide range of topics, thoughtfully created and delivered by members of the care-experienced community to ensure authenticity and lived experience are at the core. These programs are designed to help professionals build skills, deepen their understanding, and improve their practices when working with care-experienced individuals. In addition to our in-house initiatives, we collaborate with external organisations to write/deliver tailored training sessions.
