OUR COMMUNITY & PROJECTS
What are we up to?

Avokaoke is all about making music accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Our music-themed pop-up drop-ins are a welcoming space where you can sing, try out instruments, or make music with others—no experience needed! Sometimes, we learn songs together to perform as a group.
In 2025, we’re excited to bring back our popular performance night in Exeter, following the success of our 2023 event at St Matts. "Avocados and Friends" will once again have the chance to take the stage, share their favourite songs, and enjoy a fun, relaxed night of live music.
Check our calendar and follow us on social media to see when our next Avokaoke pop-ups are happening!

We run trips across Devon throughout the year, with our biggest outings taking place at Easter and in the summer. Our trips are planned based on what our community wants, and so far, we’ve explored the Aquarium, Pennywell Farm, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Northcott Theatre Exeter, Paignton Zoo, the Donkey Sanctuary, and the beach for rock pooling. We’ve also been bowling, taken part in regular walks around the county, and hosted drop-ins at our Exeter Hub and with Young Devon in Barnstaple.
These trips are run with participation teams in Devon and are open to care-experienced young people aged 16+. No matter which local authority you’re with—if you live in Devon, you’re welcome to join us!

Our drop-ins are a welcoming space to connect, unwind, and take part in activities—if you want to! We meet fortnightly in Exeter at our Hub (for anyone 16+) and monthly in Barnstaple at the YES Centre with Young Devon (for anyone 20+).
Activities range from crafting, games, and cooking to local outings and practical sessions like CV writing, interview techniques, and budgeting. But there’s no pressure—you’re welcome to join in or just come along to hang out and have a chat.
Check our calendar and social media for dates and details on how to pop along!

We’re expanding our partnerships in 2025 to create more opportunities for our care-experienced community to try new things, develop skills, have fun, and get creative.
This year, we’re excited to host colleagues from the Northcott Theatre in February for a theatre chat and tour. We’ve also teamed up with the Devon and Exeter Squash and Racketball Club for squash and table tennis, and with Active Devon to make swimming, cycling, and other activities more accessible.
Whether it’s learning new skills, staying active, or having fun, we’re connecting with local organisations to offer more to our community.
