Our Mission
Avocados Impact, founded in 2020 by Rachael Grimshire and Katie Smaldon, is an independent rights advice service and community dedicated to supporting care experienced individuals in Devon. As a lived experience run organisation, we combine the knowledge, passion, and expertise of both professional and care experienced leaders. Rachael, an Independent Social Worker, and Katie, care experienced herself, have built a space where individuals can access tailored guidance and support outside of statutory services. Our organisation is guided by a Board of Directors with both professional and lived experience of the care system, alongside a Lived Experience Board of care experienced individuals who actively shape and influence our work. We are committed to amplifying the voices of care experienced people, ensuring their rights are upheld, and meeting their needs with respect and integrity.
